When the time is up for the current one, it should be replaced with a new Bus. No excuses.

YES. The New Beetle sold well, there's no reason this wouldn't.

And can you imagine if they gave it the full treatment? Just imagine, a 4mo Bus TDI...

That would be excellent. Some part of me would want to see a Bus R though, no matter how dumb of an idea it seems.

That's not dumb at all. The market demand is already pushing VW towards a Wagon R, why not a Bus R too?

See I dont know where to draw the line so I'd end up wanting a camper R because track day motorhome.

Every car in the current lineup has R potential. I would just want some differentiation between them. I wouldn't want the hi-po 2.0t in all of them. But imagine the Passat R with the S4's super6 under the hood and 4mo. That would be sweet. And the 3.6 VR6 in the Jetta. I mean, the resources are there, it would just be a matter of configuring them properly.

Yeah with the universal platforms most engines are relatively easy to drop in most cars. Just a matter of if there's a market.

When it comes to VW customers, there's such diverse tastes, I'm sure there's a market. It just might require some pruning of other models to give the Rs some breathing room.

I love the idea of a new bus, but VW desperately needs a compact crossover possibly based off the Audi Q3 or Q5.
On an unrelated note....the draw of the MK7 is growing stronger....but I'm going to hold out until the Performance Pack.

I would say the opposite actually. For VW and Audi to both thrive right now, they need differentiation. And for that to work right, VW needs to reintroduce a little quirk and draw some more history into the lineup. They're starting to cannibalize Audi a bit more than the brand is willing to admit right now.
And dooooooo it. You know the regular model still has XDS. And the extra power can always be implemented with a tune. :)

I hear you but I say they should do both. Compact crossover to make the money and a bus for nostalgia.
I know about the XDS, but I'm in no rush and want the best handling car for my money (that is also practical) so I don't mind waiting.

Same way they do the Golf and Beetle? As long as they properly differentiate them, I'm down for that.
